Customizing Functions and O nscreen Displays
Customize the camcorder to match your shooting style and needs. Use
the [J Other Functions] [Custom Function] setting to adjust how some
of the camcorder’s controls and functions operate in mode.
Similarly, use the [M LCD/VF Setup] [Custom Display] setting to
customize the onscreen displays that appear during recording. You can
save these preferences along with other menu settings to an SD card and
use them again later (0 122).
Customizing Functions
The following table describes which functions can be customized using
[Custom Function]. For more details, refer to [Custom Function] (0 170).
1 Open the [Custom Function] submenu.

Operating modes:
Customizable Functions with [Custom Function]
Menu item Description
[Shockless Gain] Determines the speed of the transition when the gain is changed.
[Shockless WB] Creates a softer transition when the white balance is changed.
[AE Response] Controls the camcorder’s response when you change the automatic exposure setting.
[Iris Limit] Sets a maximum aperture value to be used for shooting.
[I. Ring Direction] Changes the direction of the adjustment when turning the iris ring.
[F. Ring Control] Selects the sensitivity of the response when operating the focus ring.
[F. Assist B&W]
Automatically switches the screen to B&W while the focus assist functions (peaking and magnification) are
activated. You can have the screen switch to B&W when only the peaking is activated, when only the
magnification is activated or when both are activated.
[Obj. Dist. Unit]
Selects the units of distance (meters or feet) displayed when the camcorder shows the distance to the subject in
full manual focus or manual focus mode.
[Zoom Indicator] Selects the display of the zoom indicator between a graphic bar and a numeric display (0 to 99).
[ZR-2000 AE Shift]
Selects the function of the AE SHIFT dial on the optional ZR-2000 Zoom Remote Controller between adjusting
either the exposure compensation or the aperture value.
[Scan Reverse Rec] Inverts the recorded image horizontally and vertically.
[Character Rec]
When this function is set to [On], all of the onscreen displays will be recorded to the clip exactly as they appear
on the screen.
